On 21st August 2019 NTA (National Testing Agency) has finally rolled out the NEET (UG) 2020 schedule through a press release.

It was being speculated that from the year 2020 the NEET (UG) (National Eligibility cum Entrance test- Under Graduate) will be held twice in a year in February and May. It was also expected that just like JEE Main and Advanced, the NEET (UG) will be held through C.B.T mode i.e. through a computer-based test.

Although it can be concluded from the official NTA press release 2020 that again this year, NEET (UG) will be held only once in Offline mode (i.e. Pen-and-Paper Based Examination).

This year, NEET (UG) 2020 application process will commence from the 2nd of December 2019, wherein Registration for NEET (UG) will be done. All the candidates fulfilling the requisite eligibility criteria for NEET (UG) 2020 and those who have successfully registered for NEET (UG) would be able to download their NEET (UG) Admit Cards from the official website from 27th of March, 2020 onwards.

This would be for the second time that the NTA will organize the NEET (UG), at numerous centers located across India.

This year NTA is scheduled to organize NEET (UG) 2020 on the 3rd of May 2020, and it will declare the results on the 4th day of June 2020 (i.e. 4th June 2020).

  • Just to get an insight into the NTA NEET 2020 stats, you can look into the statistics of the previous year.
  • Last year in NEET there were a total of 2,546 examination centers located across 154 Indian cities.
  • The total number of candidates who had registered for NEET 2020 was 1519375, while a total of 1410755 candidates had appeared in the examination paper, and it is being expected that we can witness a surge in these aforesaid numbers, in NEET 2020.
  • The total number of seats that were granted last year was:-
    • 75893 MBBS seats across 529 MBBS colleges and,
    • 26693 seats in 313 BDS colleges.
  • Among the total number of students who had appeared for NEET (UG) only 797042 candidates were declared to be qualified while only 102586 students were provided admissions.

Nationality Criteria for NEET 2020

You need to be an Indian National, Non-Resident Indian (NRIs), Oversees Citizen of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) or a Foreign National to be eligible to appear in NEET (UG).

Age criteria for NEET 2020

  • You must complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December 2020.
  • For candidates belonging to the General category, 25 years is considered as the upper age limit, and 30 years in case of candidates belonging to the OBC/SC/ST categories.

Qualification Criteria for NEET 2020

You must have completed and passed class 12th senior secondary school exam or an exam considered equivalent to the 12th school board exam with four compulsory subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.

Percentage Criteria Required for NEET 2020

Followings are the minimum marks that you must secure in Class XII boards:-

  • An aggregate of 50% marks in compulsory subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, if you belong to the General categories.
  • If you are physically challenged candidate then you must have secured a minimum of 45 % aggregate marks in compulsory subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology.
  • If you belong to the scheduled cast (SC) category or scheduled tribe (ST) category then you must have got a minimum of 40% aggregate marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/ Biotechnology (PCB group).

  • A medical aspirant can only apply for NEET (UG) 2020 in an online mode as no offline facilities are provided.
  • To fill the NEET UG 2020 Application form you need to adhere to the official instructions as mentioned on the official website of NTA.
  • You just need to visit website and follow the four simple steps:-
    • Fill your details that you are being asked to fill in the Online Application Form of NEET (UG) 2020.
      • Note: – you must note down your Application Number, as you would be needing it further.
    • Secondly, you need to upload your recent photographs and signature in the prescribed formats.
    • Make sure that you make the Payment of NEET-UG 2020 Application only by prescribed modes.
    • If the application window shows Successful remittance of the fee that you have paid then take a Print out of Confirmation on A4 sized paper.
  • There are two slabs of the Application fee of NEET 2020.
    • For General or OBC candidates application fee is 1400 Indian rupees.
    • While the Application fee of NEET 2020 for SC/ ST/ PH candidates is 750 Indian rupees.
