Since several changes and improvisations made in the JEE Advanced 2020 have left the candidates confused over several factors of the examination and its associated events.
Hereby we are mentioning below some of the important aspects that the candidates of JEE Advanced 2020 must know.
Important Points of FAQs on Category and Reservation Based Important Points
- In the online registration for JEE Advanced 2020, the students belonging to the OBS and EWS categories are required to upload their respective category certificate issued on or after 1st April 2020.
- In case the category certificate of the candidates is not available, the candidates will have to declare that they did not belong to the reserved category as mentioned in JEE Main registration. These students will need to opt for general category, provided that their JEE Main 2020 score is above the General Cut-off.
- The candidates with valid Physical Disability category (PWD category) will get an extra one hour time during both the papers of JEE Advanced.
- Also, as per the set rules and regulations of reservation that will be followed in JEE Advanced 2020, the PWD candidates with a disability that can prevent them from operating the Computer Based Test platform properly, can utilize the service of a scribe.
Important Points of FAQs on Eligibility for Foreign Candidates
- The JEE aspirants who are not Indian citizens (either by birth or naturalized) and have studied and are studying in 10+2 or equivalent level of studies, during the time of registration for JEE Advanced 2020 are considered as foreign nationals.
- Foreign national’s seats are supernumerary with a 10% cap on all seats in every course.
- Foreign nationals will not be granted the benefits of seat reservation as per the provisions of reservation formulated by the Government of India, under the categories like:-
- GEN-EWS (economically weaker section)
- OBC-NCL (non-creamy layer)
- SC(scheduled caste)
- ST (scheduled tribe)
- PwD (Persons with Disability)
- These foreign candidates don’t need to take JEE Main 2020 and may register directly for JEE Advanced 2020 if they fulfill the specified eligibility criteria.
Important Points of FAQs on Tie-breaking rule for JEE Advanced 2020
- In case any two candidates get the same aggregate marks JEE Advanced 2020, a tie-break policy will be practised to derive their ranks:
- The candidate who will have higher positive marks will get a higher rank. If this first tie-breaking criterion fails, then the subject wise evaluation will be used in the following way.
- The candidates obtaining higher marks in Mathematics will get a higher rank. If the marks in the Maths can’t be used to break the tie, then the candidate obtaining higher marks in Physics will get a higher rank among them.
NOTE: – Even if these parameters can’t break the tie in JEE Advanced 2020 then these candidates will get the same rank.
Important Points of FAQs on JoSAA 2019 Counseling
- In the JoSAA counselling of the last year, the students who had paid seat acceptance fee, though did not report at the center are eligible for JEE Advanced 2020.
- Those students are also eligible for JEE Advanced 2020, who had paid seat acceptance fee but later withdrew before the last seat allotment round.
- Additionally, the students studying in NIT are eligible for JEE Advanced 2020.
Important Points of FAQs on Improvement for Aggregate Marks Criteria
- The candidates who have passed Class 12th or equivalent level of education in 2019, and want to improve their aggregate marks in order to meet the specified aggregate marks criteria can give improvement exams in any number of subjects that they want to improve.
NOTE: – the specified aggregate marks criteria are 75% for general or 65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates.
- In this situation, the percentage of marks will be calculated by taking into account the marks achieved in 2019 or 2020. The marks whichever is higher in their two attempts made in 2019 and 2020, in the respective subjects.
