
JoSAA Counselling 2025 Overview
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is a centralized body formed by the Ministry of Education. It conducts a unified seat allocation process for admission into 127 premier technical institutes—23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and around 47 other GFTIs—for the 2025–26 academic year.
JoSAA is jointly managed by the IITs’ Joint Admission Board (JAB) and the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

Qualification
For Admission to IITs
- Mandatory Exam: Candidates must qualify for JEE Advanced 2025.
- Minimum Qualification Marks:
Must be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards or score a minimum of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD) in Class 12 or equivalent. - Subjects Required in Class 12:
- Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) are compulsory.
For Admission to NITs, IIITs, IIEST & GFTIs
- Mandatory Exam: Candidates must qualify for JEE Main 2025.
- Minimum Academic Requirement:
- Should have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with a minimum 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or be in the top 20 percentile in their board.
- Subject Requirements:
- For B.Tech/B.E. programs: Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects, along with one of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject.
JoSAA does not conduct any separate exam—it only facilitates admission based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced results.
